When Cornelia Hahn Oberlander was presented with the Order of Canada, the Governor General called her “Canada’s premier landscape architect” who “is known for integrating her designs in the overall architectural project with the natural environment, yet always adding a unique new vision and dimension.” Over 40 years, she has worked with internationally acclaimed architects such as Arthur Erickson and Moshe Safdie and public agencies in Canada and the U.S.A.

Elisabeth Whitelaw is a landscape architect interested in environmentally responsible urban design, including green roofs. She has worked with Cornelia Hahn Oberlander for twenty years and also has a small practice of her own, primarily in residential design. She represents the BCSLA on the First Shaughnessy Design Panel at City Hall.

Alexander Reford is the director of the Reford Gardens and co-founder of the International Garden Festival. He is the author of articles and books on the gardens of Quebec and has written extensively about his great grandmother’s gardens in several publications including Reford Gardens Elsie’s Paradise and Treasures of the Reford Gardens - Elsie's Floral Legacy.

Professor Alan Tate spent more than twenty years managing landscape consultancies specializing in urban park planning and design in Hong Kong and London before moving to Canada in 1998. His critically acclaimed book Great City Parks (Spon Press 2001) earned a Landscape Institute Award for Research in 2006.

John E. Zvonar, who is with the federal Heritage Conservation Directorate, has a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Manitoba. His true vocation is the protection of nationally-significant cultural landscapes for the federal government, whether for Parks Canada, the Parliamentary Precinct Directorate, or Veterans Affairs Canada.
