The Terra Nova Adventure Play Environment (TNAPE) weaves the principles of "nature play" into an agricultural landscape and regionally significant ecosystem. Informed by both child and adult advisors, it contrasts with conventional playgrounds in that the "how-to-play" is multifaceted—at times purposefully ambiguous and provocative. Most features are custom designed and manufactured using BC cedar and sustainable design practices, rather than "off the shelf" products. The TNAPE is organized into two zones. The "Homestead" includes a 10m tall Tower with a 6m high spiral slide, a climbable timber structure, an aerial rope walkway with nine climbing challenges, the Spinnery, and a water and sand play area. The "Paddock" once housed horses and stables, and now includes tandem ziplines, giant swings, a twisting slide, a meadow/paddock maze, and a picnic area.
