IBI / Landplan was selected as the Landscape Architect / Prime Consultant to direct design work for the seven acre park. A public participation process determined that the park should be a place for all ages, for all seasons and for a variety of uses. The Family Park, immediately west of the Mewata Armoury, is designed as a pleasant green space for casual park uses, as well as a space that can accommodate special events such as concerts, open air theatre and road race finishes. The Youth Park, located west of the Millennium Landmark, contains the largest outdoor concrete skate park in the world, a multi-use sport court and facilities for beach volleyball.
