East Bayfront is a planned new community along the lakefront of Toronto that is intended to provide thousands of employment opportunities and accommodate more than 10,000 new residents. Working within the framework of a large multi-disciplinary team, PFS was charged with the planning and design of the community parks, open spaces, and streetscape concepts. The overarching principles of the open space planning were to extend the city's existing street network to the lake, create several important public waterfront spaces connected by a public promenade, rely on the industrial context and some of the site's history to inspire the open space design, and provide a wide range of recreational experiences for both East Bayfront residents and, more broadly, the citizens of Toronto.
