The project creates a public space serving as both entrance and drop-off point while meeting the functional requirements of a major hospital.
The project contributes to the institution’s prestige and instigates a contextual dialogue that has the potential of defining the identity of Montréal's health district’s urban landscape.
Many of the project’s roofs will be covered with gardens highlighting plants and their relationship to medicine, thereby defining the cultural identity of CHUM. Universal accessibility, improved traffic flow and space sharing are integrated into all exterior designs and smoothly transition to the interior.
