Message from Michelle Legault, CSLA Executive Director
Last week, at the ASLA Conference in Washington, D.C., I had the pleasure of attending the ASLA Council of Fellows Investiture Ceremony. I was honored to celebrate the esteemed Catherine Berris, BCSLA, FCSLA, who will now add FASLA to her designations. She is one of only 20 Canadians and 7 women to be honored with this exceptional achievement. What a joy it was to find myself alongside Catherine, her family and a few CSLA colleagues to help mark this milestone. Congratulations, Catherine, on behalf of all CSLA members!

The Ontario Land Tribunal Calls for Redesign of Rand Estate Development
In September 2023, the CSLA provided a letter of support to the The Niagara Foundation regarding their position on the proposed development of the Rand Estate in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We are pleased to report that the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) has recently released its decision, requiring the project to be redesigned. Although no policy mandates comprehensive planning for the entire Rand Estate, the Tribunal found that “a rare opportunity” exists to properly plan the entire Rand Estate with due regard for its important cultural heritage
attributes.
