Executed Works of Landscape Architecture

Graduating with degrees in Anthropology (2001) and Landscape Architecture from the University of Montreal in 2005, Yannick Roberge has almost 20 years of experience in Landscape Architecture. He is a partner at CCxA (previously Claude Cormier et Associés) which he joined in 2008. As Studio Director, he keeps the quirk and spark that distinguished the firm’s signature landscape projects.

Yannick’s design approach and creative process is grounded in principles of creative insight and rigorous research based in the specificity of each project, and an ability for translating poetics into the reality with dexterity. His work evokes a sense of sophistication and excitement, balancing rigour and spontaneity with a distinctive edge backed by a sharp intuition for good design. His dual education background in anthropology and landscape, combined with a lifelong passion for cinema, has sharpened his ability to craft compelling stories and project narratives that engage, surprise and inspire.

Within CCxA, Yannick directs major landscape projects, competitions, waterfront and heritage projects, and master plans in Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Chicago. He was an integral part of the creation and execution of the celebrated "Pink Balls," evolving later into "18 Shades of Gay", in Montreal’s Gay Village. Other examples of his innovative approach include the sliced Equisetum fountain at Square Dorchester, the craft and signature of the dog fountain at Berczy Park in Toronto, and his work as the design lead for Warehouse Park currently under construction in Edmonton. Yannick also played an instrumental role in the development of The Ring at Place Ville-Marie in Montreal and has been creative lead for the redevelopment of Olympic Plaza in Calgary, crafting a new signature for the city.

Yannick is also engaged in numerous teaching and mentoring activities, including teaching at the University of Montreal and the McGill University School of Architecture.
