Suzanne Rochon

Year of Investiture:

After several years working in the private sector, Suzanne shifted her career focus to projects that benefit the community, spending more than 15 years with the City of Montreal as a team leader and manager of major projects.  Her significant contributions to Mount Royal Park, as well as La Fontaine, Jarry, and Angrignon Parks, exemplify her commitment to providing Montrealers with a place where it is good to “live together.”

Suzanne is passionate about serving people and the landscape.

Located between the river and the mountains, she has worked on several iconic sites in Montreal: Parc des Rapides, right in the heart of the St. Lawrence River; the first edition of Mosaïcultures Internationales in 2000 at the Old Port of Montreal; and numerous landscaping projects at Mount Royal Park, the most significant of which include: the restoration of Lac aux Castors, the addition of three kiosks to the Olmsted Glade, the water feature at the Peel Entrance, as well as a touching collaboration on the art installations “Give Peace a Chance” and “L’étreinte des temps.”  Restoring Lac aux Castors in accordance with the reflecting pool concept—this fabulous legacy from Frédérick Todd to the city of Montreal—was a great privilege for her.

At St. Anne-de-Bellevue Hospital, she designed five therapeutic gardens for the benefit of veterans.

Her final legacy to the city of Montreal was launching the very first mycological inventory to preserve the underground mycelium network. A nod to her first job in James Bay, where she planted plants inoculated with mycorrhizae.

Recently, in 2025, Suzanne received the Frédérick-Todd Award, the most prestigious honorary distinction awarded by the AAPQ for her exceptional contribution.
