Le’Ann Whitehouse, BLA University of Guelph 1998, has been an OALA Full Member with Seal since 2000. She has taught landscape architecture at the University of Guelph and has lectured at McMaster, and Toronto advocating the profession of Landscape Architecture.
Since 2000, Le’Ann has volunteered with the OALA and CLARB having served as a Member of OALA Council, Executive Committee Member, Advisor, Mentor, Exam Question Creator for CLARB, Master Grader for CLARB, and Cut Score Committee Member for CLARB. Le’Ann is currently an Advisor to young professionals seeking licensure. She also served for four years on the City of Burlington’s Urban Design Advisory Board and currently advocates for the role of landscape architecture as a committee member for the Ontario Home Builders Association.
In 2004 Le’Ann wrote the first version of OALA’s Study Manuals for Landscape Architecture Registration Exams. The manuals reached acclaim through the CSLA with a National Award in the category of Communications. She has also written in the Ontario Planning Journal on the role of Landscape Architecture in community-based planning and design and spoken at the 6th Annual Hamilton Economic Summit on the role of Landscape Architecture in public realm economics.
Le’Ann was recognized in 2015 by the University of Guelph as a Notable Graduate. In addition to this she is the recipient of a number of awards, including the Excellence in Landscape Architecture Honour from the University of Guelph in association with the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the OALA’s David Erb Memorial Award.
Le’Ann is a qualified expert witness for the Ontario Land Tribunal in the areas of visual impact assessment, urban design, and natural heritage. Her work has produced many award-winning projects, including Excellence in Public Building, Outstanding Achievement and Excellence in Urban Design, and Excellence in Architectural Hardscape.
