Direct Service to the Society

Hope’s dedication to the CSLA spans nearly two decades, where she has contributed to shaping national advocacy efforts, strengthened professional networks, and championed landscape architects as key contributors to climate action.

Before stepping into her role as CSLA’s Manager of Advocacy and Strategic Affairs, Hope served on the APALA and CSLA Boards of Directors (2013–2016, 2017–2022), including as CSLA President (2020–2021). She was a founding member of the Committee on Climate Adaptation (2015) and contributed to international climate action as Co-Chair (Logistics) of the IFLA Climate Change Working Group (2017–2020).

Hope has been a strong advocate for research, drawing from her own practice, which emphasizes science-based policy development for coastal adaptation. She was the lead author of the PEI State of the Coast and Interim Coastal Policy Recommendations reports for the PEI provincial government (2023), which included 16 recommendations which the government has committed to implementing. As an awards juror for LACF (2017–2023), she has helped advance research in the profession in Canada.

In her current role with the CSLA, Hope continues to advocate for the profession at the federal level, strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships, and develop strategic initiatives. Her first major project as CSLA staff was leading the development of landADAPT, a professional development program aimed at building the adaptation capacity of Canadian landscape architects.

Hope's career is defined by an unwavering commitment to ensuring that landscape architects—whether working in policy, planning, design, or research—are empowered to lead in shaping resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities across Canada.

Hope holds a Bachelor of Science with Joint Honours in Geology and Biology from St. Francis Xavier University (2000), and a Bachelor of Environmental Design (2005) and Master of Landscape Architecture (2009) from the University of Manitoba.
