The landscape of the Queen’s Marque Public Realm, an iconic project in downtown Halifax, seamlessly weaves into mixed-use buildings, contributing just under 100,000 sqft of vibrant public space along the historic harbour's edge. It unites buildings, wharves, streets and a series of interconnected plazas, creating a harmonious district for diverse community activities. The innovative granite “steps” called Queen’s Landing symbolise the project's groundbreaking approach, dynamically responding to significant daily tide fluctuations and bringing visitors in direct contact with the water.
The Bosque Gallery, facilitating tree growth on the parking garage roof deck and amidst ocean salt spray challenges, provides a tranquil escape with panoramic harbour views. Incorporating elements such as hemlock deck boards, muntz metal and reclaimed clay brick, the design eloquently honours Halifax's maritime heritage. Monolithic salt and pepper granite further connects the project to Nova Scotia's rugged coastal landscape. Fathom’s carefully integrated lighting scheme transforms the space into a captivating waterfront haven at night.
