Mr. Tony Bradwell, Bachelor of Arts (UBC, 1975), Dip. Ornamental Horticulture (Olds College 1979), interned in Vancouver with Justice, Webb and Vincent, and Durante Kruek. Seconded to The Landscape Collaborative, he led production of landscape design documentation for a significant portion of the common area of the Expo 86 site.
He became a member of the BCSLA in 1985 and CSLA in 1986. He served as a Director of the BCSLA for two years and contributed to the BCSLA Practice Guide and the BCNTA / BCSLA Landscape Standard.
In 1985, Tony joined Urban Systems Ltd. in Kamloops, BC. He became a principal in 1990 and continued as Principal and Senior Landscape Architect until 2014. He guided development of a landscape architecture team concentrating on environment and place within an integrated inter-disciplinary practice. He retired from professional practice in 2016.
Tony’s practice focussed on community development and enhancement. His capabilities in possibility thinking, project management, design and delivery contributed to a diverse range of projects throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Yukon. Many of these projects were for communities, including several First Nations, without ready access to landscape architectural services. His work has been recognized with five CSLA professional awards.
Tony served in leadership of Beautify Kamloops, Communities in Bloom Kamloops and Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association. For several years, he was a coach and director for youth soccer. He was a founding director of the Urban Systems Foundation. He continues as an active volunteer and leader for community service and fraternal organizations and projects.
