Executed Works of Landscape Architecture and Direct Service to the Society

Cheryl spent her formative years exploring the rich and vibrant landscapes of Northwest Ontario. Her aspirations of becoming a competitive downhill skier quickly faded when her family moved to southern Manitoba. Not to be discouraged, she found an equally ambitious pursuit.  Cheryl completed her master's degree in landscape architecture at the University of Manitoba. Fresh out of grad school, she landed a job with Mike Scatliff, beginning a thirty-year association, characterized by a healthy mix of design rigour, therapy sessions, and humour.

Throughout her career, Cheryl has been a mentor to several emerging professionals and young colleagues within the firm. As a member of the leadership team and principal at Scatliff+Miller+Murray, Cheryl is committed to initiating design projects with vision and elevating the practice beyond the conventional realm of landscape architecture. She is a skilled sketch artist who values the intuitive relationship between the brain and hand in conceptualizing designs. Working within teams of designers, artists, and builders, Cheryl plays a leadership role in maintaining conceptual integrity and technical innovation from start to finish on all projects. She remains actively involved in projects throughout the entire process.

Cheryl has been a significant contributor to the firm’s projects, including some of Winnipeg's most memorable public places, such as the Outdoor Common at The Forks and the widely popular 'Heart of the Park' at the Assiniboine Park, featuring the signature Children's Nature and Adventure Playground. These projects like all of the firm's work, represent a collaborative effort by a team that seeks to drive innovation and create visionary solutions. Cheryl is very proud to be part of such a dedicated team.
