This project exemplifies landscape architects' ability to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders. The City Centre Renewal Plan is a future vision for Mount Pearl that was strongly informed and guided by its residents. The project team needed to engage with the community regularly, despite the onset of the global pandemic. The landscape architects illustrated excellence in communications - blending traditional engagement techniques with new - to continue engaging with the community; to help residents navigate this new virtual world; to generate productive discussion on Mount Pearl's future; to clarify the project's complexities; to build support for the project; and to create an awareness of the value of landscape architecture. In the end, the landscape architect's ability to communicate resulted in a project that was understandable, approachable, and enthusiastically backed by the community.
