The Thunder Bay City-wide and Image Route Guidelines present a unique alternative to traditional streetscape design to create place-specific solutions for over 13km of streets in an efficient, effective manner through the application of eight 'Streetscape Improvement Typologies.' To-date, the documents have guided the transformation of one of the City's primary arterial corridors into a beautiful, tree-lined complete street that welcomes pedestrians, vehicles and public transit to the Downtown. The success of this approach provides a strong precedent for large-scale streetscape redevelopment in municipalities across Canada.
