Landscapes | Paysages Call for Submissions: Equity

For landscape architects, an oft-cited professional manifesto is to create spaces that have lasting, positive effects on people and the environment. In our public realm work, we frequently promote inclusive, equitable landscapes that accommodate a broad range of user groups and contribute to social harmony. Given the magnitude of this pursuit, it is crucial that we recognize omnipresent influences that affect how public spaces are perceived and used, and that have the potential to undermine even the most well-intentioned efforts.

The deadline for submitting article ideas, abstracts or rough drafts is August 8, 2022. Final draft submission deadline is September 16, 2022.

#StandWithUkraine

"My name is Lesia Mokrycke, I am a landscape graduate completing my PDP with the OALA in Ontario. On March 10th a fellow alumnus, Joanna Karaman, from the University of Pennsylvania and I reached out to the ASLA about initiatives that could be taken by landscape architects to help the situation in Ukraine. Clive Justice Celebration of Life

As most of you know, due to COVID restrictions, the family of Clive Justice was unable to hold an in-person event following his death in December 2020. There have been a few cancellations of planned services in the meantime, including the one scheduled for March 19th.

Please be advised that a celebration of Clive’s life is now planned for SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2022, to be held at 1:00 PM at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, 949 West 49th Avenue (at Oak Street), Vancouver, BC. We believe, with the continued loosening of various restrictions (and hopefully the absence of another variant of concern between now and then), that we will be able to hold this event as originally envisioned, and hope that you will be able to join us.

It would be much appreciated if you would please contact karenjustice@shaw.ca to RSVP yea or nay regarding your intention to attend.
