Stefan Fediuk

Stefan Fediuk, BES(Arch) 1983 and MLA 1993 University of Manitoba has been the Landscape Architect at the City of Windsor’s Planning Department since 2008 and Sr Urban Designer since 2020.  He has volunteered with OALA since becoming a member in 2008 and currently sits on OALA Council as the Association’s President, and as a member of various committees and taskforces.  Prior to this he sat on the MALA Council and Chaired the CSLA Awards of Excellence Program.  
 
His career in landscape architecture started in the private sector at Bezaire & Associates, creating public and private spaces such as Leamington Marina, and site plan control applications.  In Winnipeg, his work continued as a Landscape Architect/Urban Designer with the City of Winnipeg facilitating various projects in the public realm including the Carol Shields Memorial Labyrinth, Assiniboine Park English Gardens and conservatory, Marconi Trail and various playgrounds and skateboard parks throughout the city.  
 
Winnipeg’s rich heritage and respect for innovative public realm was a key element of the profession that he transferred to his hometown of Windsor, Ontario, where he continues public administration, advocating for quality human comfort, environmental health and safety and heritage landscape recognition with various planning development applications.  Key municipal projects where he was involved include the Wyandotte West streetscape, Walkerville Heritage District and Willistead Park, Pillette Village BIA and Rotary 1918 Centennial Plaza overlooking Windsor’s waterfront while commemorating the diversity of the city and its origins as a meeting point for indigenous people of the area.  He also authored the City of Windsor’s Parks & Recreation Master Plan - Rediscover Our Parks, which has led to the federal government’s consideration of creating a National Urban Park at the Ojibway Prairie Complex.
