Paul Sangha, BLA University of British Columbia 1986, is the Principal of Paul Sangha Creative, an internationally-recognized landscape architectural practice based in Vancouver, BC. With over 35 years of experience, Paul’s reputation is built on his pursuit of the highest quality of design, detail and service, establishing the firm as one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier practices.

Paul has an exceptional vision for uniting the landscape, built form and site, born from a rigorous and collaborative design process. He is highly regarded for his sensitive approach to site planning and ability to heighten our experiences of landscape, crafting immersive nature-forward spaces, and mastering proportions, scale, materiality, and spatial relationships.

Paul’s work spans a broad spectrum of styles and design languages, and no matter the approach, his work embraces its unique sense of place and is always rooted in simplicity, elegance and timelessness. In addition to his residential work, some of Paul’s most notable projects include select wineries in Okanagan, BC; 48 acres of landscaped grounds for The Dubai Creek Tower; and master planning of Pennsylvania’s Rivendale Farms. Locally, Paul’s work is most evident along Vancouver’s waterfront, and his private projects have collectively contributed to the improvement of over 850 feet of completed foreshore and riparian habitat, and the daylighting of two creeks. This includes ‘Metamorphous’, a 200-foot long sculptural solution to address shoreline erosion (winner of 2015 ASLA Award and 2016 City of Vancouver Urban Design Award), and the daylighting of Tatlow Creek, which is currently underway.

A gold-medalist of UBC’s Landscape Architecture program, Paul has remained dedicated to advancing the field of landscape architecture. In 2007, Paul established a scholarship for design excellence which has supported 14 talented UBC students to-date, and since 2010, he has sponsored an annual public lecture in collaboration with the university. Paul also serves as a visiting professor and critic at the design school. For his contributions to both the profession and the university, Paul was the recipient of the UBC Applied Sciences Dean’s Medal of Distinction in 2021.
