Roderick B. MacDonald

Roderick B. MacDonald's education includes a Bachelor degree from the University of Guelph in 1971 and a Master's degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1989. He has taught since 1984 at the Universities of British Columbia, Guelph, and Massachusetts. 

Mr. MacDonald has been a member of both the OALA and CSLA since 1975 and has served on the OALA Examining Board since 1990. He was recently honoured by being asked to represent the OALA on a Question Forming Committee for the Landscape Architecture Registration Examinations. 

Rod's professional experience includes work with Parks Canada throughout the Eastern Region and two years as research associate at the University of Guelph, pioneering visual assessment methods. He is a founding principal of The Landplan Collaborative Ltd., and over the past two decades, has directed hundreds of projects, including visual assessment, park and recreation development, public garden design, resource management, urban planning and design, institutional development, resort facility design, and landscape research. He has been responsible for numerous award winning designs and plans throughout Canada. 

Rod has contributed design excellence, educational skills, unparalleled leadership and a profound commitment to his profession throughout his illustrious career as a landscape architect. His constant aspiration for excellence has made him a very special practitioner.
