Landscape Architect Wanted
MJMA (Maclennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects) is seeking a Landscape Architect for a full-time position. We are looking for someone with ideally 4+ years of experience to join our emerging and dynamic MJMA Landscape Toronto team. While we welcome applicants at all levels, we strongly encourage submissions from experienced L.A.s from established practices who are looking to be inspired and interested in a position of growth and challenge within an emerging critical practice having unlimited ambition and growth potential. MJMA Landscape operates as a full service Landscape Architectural discipline working closely with MJMA Architecture Partners to create fully integrated ‘Site to Signage’ design solutions. The position will involve significant responsibility, creative output, and technical proficiency primarily working on integrated Community, Recreation, and/or Academic Park and Campus sites.
MJMA is a 60-person firm committed to excellence in the design of recreation, institutional, and academic architecture, and landscape design. Recipients of the 2016 RAIC Firm Award, our integrated design studio incorporates Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Environmental Graphic Design consulting, all aimed at delivering full service, holistic design solutions to our municipal and institutional clients. Our office is a collaborative and dynamic work environment with a commitment to establishing a great place to work and to foster professional growth of the individual.
MJMA LANDSCAPE is focused on creating thoughtful and well-conceived Landscapes with both practical and critical thinking at its core. Project types include Full-Site Municipal Parks, City Urban Parkettes, All Purpose Sport Destination Park sites, Urban Landscape Fragments, Play Scapes, Green Roofs, and internalized Courtyards spaces all fully integrated with the MJMA Architectural delivery from the outset. Clients include UBC, Niagara College, University of Guelph, Conestoga College, City of Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, London, Orillia, and Ajax. Many of these projects are an integration of full building design and park design, and are often situated within large or challenging recreational, academic, and urban settings. Projects customarily incorporate masterplanning strategies and full building design along with passive park spaces, active sport field design, large green space developments, and urban or campus context developments. All projects have the goal to create holistic, powerful, and highly memorable public realm spaces that are designed with natural processes to evolve and get better over time.
Visit our website - www.mjma.ca While our current website provides an overview of our Architectural pursuits, our soon to be re-launched website will showcase the numerous in-house Landscape Architecture projects designed and executed by MJMA Landscape since 2013 - many of which are now completed.
We seek to fill an additional position within the Landscape team, working directly with MJMA’s Director of Landscape Architecture OALA CSLA, who brings 25 years of experience within highly recognized critical design practices in New York, Boston and Toronto. The role is to be a collaborative position focused on the design, technical execution, and management of projects in order to successfully meet design intent and project goals. The role will involve full service work, from SD to CA, and will require collaboration with the director, partners, and project teams on all office projects. The role will focus on managing and providing leadership of projects schematic design through to contract documentation, approvals with authorities, and contract execution.
Candidates must be graduates of a recognized professional Landscape Architecture program and possess strong design and technical abilities. Professional accreditation is an asset. Demonstration of strong technical and detailing ability, experience in approvals processes, and an ability to communicate and work closely within multiple project teams are all critical. Individuals must be highly proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, graphic/presentation software, as well as project management software and have understanding of Revit interface. Candidates must be committed to and adept at ‘modern design and detailing’, as alignment with MJMA design sensibilities is critical.
